How does it work?
visionM8 runs custom-developed computer vision algorithms on standard Android devices. There’s no need for expensive dedicated hardware or data-hungry cloud services.
The mask detection algorithm runs at multiple frames per second even on older devices. Within each frame, the software looks for people and where it finds one or more individuals either not wearing a mask or wearing one incorrectly, it sounds an audible alarm.
And best of all, by running all processing on the Android device, no images or data ever leave - perfect for privacy and to protect against data breaches.

What devices are compatible?
visionM8 works with any Android device running Android 8.0 or higher.
Do I need a data connection (SIM or WiFi)?
A data connection - either via a SIM card or WiFi - is required for the initial registration of the app but once registered, no data ever leaves the device and therefore a data connection is not required.
What is the best placement of the device?
visionM8’s mask detection has been tuned to provide an accuracy of over 90% at distances between 1 meter and 5 meters. A front- or near front-on positioning to subjects is preferred although it is still possible to achieve very good results in a side-on position.
